Glossary Part 2: Religion, Mysticism, and Supernatural Techniques
- Shinto: indigenous religion of Japan, often described as "animistic." Revolves heavily around practices worshipping "kami," translated as "spirits" or "gods." My specific practices are local, although some popular kami are worshipped across the country. Shinto practices focus on the pure vs the impure, and less on good vs evil. Impurity is considered natural, although it should be routinely cleansed.
- Jinja (Shrines): house Shinto kami and act as places of worship.
- Torii: the distinctive gates to shrines. often painted red.
- Kami: a term used to describe gods and/or spirits in Japan.
- Yomi: the underworld in Shinto cosmology, an unpleasant and dark place.

- Onmyoudou: techniques and practices that use yin and yang and the five Chinese elements for divination and exorcisms, draws from Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Shinto, and Goryou (ancestor worship)
- Onmyouji: a practitioner of onmyoudou, they used to hold positions in royal court as diviners
