Benihime Inari Shrine

A small shrine to the fox kami Benihime, located in southeastern Tokyo, near Asakusa. The shrine was founded in the Taishou era and Benihime Inari gained a following by granting small wishes and protecting children during air raids on the city in World War II. These same children now bring their families to the shrine to pray for luck and safety. The shrine is currently managed by the Hachikuji family who inherited it from their mother.

Hachikuji Nana 八九時なな

The head of Benihime Inari-jinja and the eldest child of the Hachikuji family, Nana is a bit too timid to make any kind of matriarch. However, she is a caring and thoughtful person who can put her anxiety aside to take care of others. She is one of Junna's oldest friends and can often be found cleaning the shrine grounds between telling fortunes and selling omamori.

Hachikuji Shigoro 八九寺四五六

The middle Hachikuji child, his place in the family actually holds an unpleasant secret. He was trained in onmyoudo by his father and alongside the Takara triplets and also dabbles in illusion magic very similiar to the abilities of a kitsune. Currently, he works as an exorcist alongside Takara Takuto. He is affable on the surface but cunning and manipulative as well.

Hachikuji Hifumi 八九寺一二三

The youngest Hachikuji child, quiet and mysterious. She is autistic and rarely speaks to people she doesn't know well. Because of her quirks, she has a hard time at school and often stays home, doing her work on her own time. She has a bad habit of staring.

Benihime Inari 紅姫 稲荷

A benevolent kitsune who answers prayers with small amounts of supernatural protection and luck. She was born in the Meiji Era and earned most of her tails during the early Showa Era when she protected children who lived near the shrine from air raids during the second World War. These children still patronize her shrine, now bringing their own children and grandchildren.

Takara Triplets

Taught onmyoudou by their father, a friend of the Hachikuji siblings' father. The three of them have vastly different personalities, although they are all still connected to the Hachikuji family, Kei, and Junna. Their names can be pronounced as English words, a theme name set thought up by their mother.

Takara Tact (Takuto) 宝 巧士

The eldest Takara, the things that matter most to him are money and power. He looks after himself first of all. Although he appears cold, he has a cruel and violent streak. Neither of his brothers like dealing with him. He works as an exorcist with Hachikuji Shigoro, his partner in crime.

Takara Halt (Haruto) 宝 悠仁

The middle Takara, probably the most mature. He is kind and self-effacing. His occupation is spiritual mortician; he takes care of the bodies of victims of the supernatural, councils their families, and prepares them for funerals. His warm personality allows him to endure his gloomy profession. When the triplets are together, he is forced to act as a mediator between his brothers. It takes a lot to make him angry, but watch out if you do.

Takara Task (Tasuku) 宝 丞来

The youngest Takara, enthusiastic and helpful. He works at Benihime Inari Shrine and is close to Nana. He strongly dislikes his eldest brother whose principles are the complete opposite of his own. Despite being taught onmyoudo from a young age, he began practicing godai elemental magic and barriers, learned from Hachikuji-mama.

Warm and friendly, he has acted as a guardian for the Hachikuji siblings since their parents died (he was and old friend of their father). Easy-going and reliable, can be an enabler. He works at a camera story in Shinjuku and also has a photography business on the side. He can see ghosts, but his sense for the supernatural isn't very strong. He was an underclassman friend of Hachikuji-papa, which is how he's connected to the family.

Doikawa Shrine

A temple dedicated to the mysterious Doikawa-no-Kamisama (or "Doikawa-sama" more casually"), an ancient deity with little known iformation about it. The current head of the temple is Doikawa Touko, a descendant of the famous onmyouji Abe-no-Seimei. The name "Doikawa," written with the characters for "earth well river" might hold a clue as to the nature or origin of kami housed there. The item that supposedly enshrines Doikawa-sama is an old mirror. The shrine doesn't have any particular specialties, but offers the usual fortune-telling and a wide array of omamori.

Doikawa Touko 土井川 東子

The head of Doikawa Shrine and a descendant of Abe-no-Seimei. She has a serious personality and can be strict, but her heart is not hardened. Her sense of justice is strong.
