Cursebreakers

Cursebreakers

Humans can be rather terrible when dealing with the supernatural; that's why we have specialists. In present day Japan, the number of families who specialize in the field has dwindled, but there are still experts that carry on the family business. In Osaka, there's the Kumomori family, who specializes in breaking curses with water-based techniques. The current generation of juniors just has... an odd way of going about it. ("Calvin Ball Cursebreakers" is a collab between Memento and S.)

Kumomori Junior Generation

  • Kumomori Kouyou
  • The second daughter (middle child) of the Kumomori Family's main branch. Her specialty is curse dispersal, relying on water-based techniques. Currently age 23, a university graduate who breaks curses full time. She is very proud of her job and strives to increase her abilities. Interested in ikebana (Japanese flower arranging).

  • Kumomori Ryou
  • The first son (youngest child) of the Kumomori Family's main branch. His specialty is curse absorption and his method makes use of his unusual combination of water and fire energies. Currently age 21, finishing his final year of university. Despite being in school, he is a full time cursebreaker alongside his sister. The athletic sort, his warbrobe primarily consists of track suits.

Raikubo Hideaki and Haresawa (by Siriex)

Haresawa (right) is a childhood friend of Kouyou and Ryou, from another family of cursebreakers. However, her neurotic personality drove her to consider a corporate job rather than the dangerous profession of cursebreaking. Corporate life wasn't much better, but Haresawa managed to escape by trapping a curse sent to kill her in her place. Now "Norosawa" (right, for real this time) is stuck pretending to be the original, getting dragged around on "missions" with the Kumomori siblings and Hideaki.

Raikubo Hideaki (left) met the Kumomori siblings and Haresawa in high school (on the school sports ball team with Ryou, also in ikebana club with Kouyou). Before he was born, a powerful spirit laid claim to his soul, granting him extreme luck until he eventually dies. Bored with everything going right all the time, Hideaki befriended the Kumomoris and joins them when they are working despite not having the ability to see curses himself.

    Kumomori Family

    Senior Generation: Yukimori & Koumei

Current Generation: Koukou, Enmu, Izumo, Ukiyo

Junior Generation (Koukou's children): Baolang, Kouyou, Ryou

Pets: Niji (Baolong's calico cat), Sticky (Ryou's shiba inu), Tsuyu (Kouyou's axolotl)

The Kumomori Family has been cursebreaking for many generations; Yukimori and Koumei are the senior heads of the main branch (although Koumei is from a distant branch). They are primarily located in Osaka. The current junior generation is half Chinese. The family specializes in techniques related to water and the weather (as indicated by their surname meaning "cloud forest"). Most family members rely on water energy when using the traditional Chinese five elements system, or water, wind, and void in the Japanese five element system.

Sumigawa Family: Shinji (married to Izumo), Kuroiki (eldest daughter), Reimei (eldest son), Mio (youngest son)

Shan Family: Ling (married to Koukou), Linka (Ling's sister)
